Short answer: Not for a short trip. Our policy data lists South Korea for unilateral visa-free entry to China for 30 days, valid until 31 December 2026. South Korea is also on the 240-hour visa-free transit list. The facts here come from our policy data, last verified 18 October 2026.
The rule is China’s own choice (unilateral), not a two-way deal. That is why it has an end date. Check it again close to your travel date.

Before you start
- A valid ordinary South Korean passport. Hold a valid ordinary passport whose validity covers your intended stay in China. Source: MFA Consular Service.
- A trip that fits the rule. Our data gives 30 days. Reports of the policy list tourism, business, family visits, exchanges and transit as allowed purposes. Work, study and journalism usually need the right visa in advance.
- Your travel dates. The rule runs until 31 December 2026 in our data. If you travel near or after that date, check for an extension.
- The arrival card. Foreign visitors can fill in the Arrival Card for Temporary Entry Foreigners online, free of charge, before travel. Use the official NIA page at s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPC/, the NIA 12367 app, or the NIA mini programs in WeChat or Alipay. The NIA warns about fake websites that charge fees, so use only official channels.

FAQ
Do South Koreans need a visa for China in 2026?
For a stay of up to 30 days, our policy data says no, until 31 December 2026. For longer stays, or work and study, you need to apply for a visa.
Is the South Korea rule permanent?
No. Our data lists an end date of 31 December 2026. We will update this page when an official notice changes it. You can also check the policy updates page.
Can I transit China without a visa?
Yes. South Korea is on the 240-hour transit list. You must fly on to a third country or region. See the transit guide.
Can I extend the 30 days?
A stay beyond 30 days is not automatic. If you enter visa-free and later need to stay longer for a reasonable, legitimate reason, apply for a stay permit at a public security exit-entry administration; otherwise, obtain the appropriate visa before travel. Source: MFA Consular Service.
