Huanggang Port Opening Hours: Open 24 Hours (2026)
Short answer: The rebuilt Huanggang Port opened at 06:30 on 12 October 2026 and is now the main 24-hour land crossing between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Hong Kong and mainland checks are in one building, so you queue once instead of crossing a bridge between them. The old Lok Ma Chau Control Point and the old Huanggang building have closed. Clearing usually takes 15–45 minutes, depending on queues.
What changed
Section titled “What changed”- Open 24 hours. It handles up to 200,000 passengers a day, compared with 40,000 at the old port.
- Joint clearance: both sides’ checks sit side by side in one building. At a staffed counter you still show your passport to each side.
- Old crossings closed: the old Lok Ma Chau Control Point (San Tin) and the Lok Ma Chau–Huanggang shuttle bus (“Yellow Bus”) have stopped.
- Officials expect clearance to drop from about 30 minutes to about 5. That’s a forecast, so leave extra time.
Don’t mix it up: the MTR’s Lok Ma Chau station goes to Futian Port, not Huanggang. There is no MTR station at Huanggang.
The crossing in 6 steps
Section titled “The crossing in 6 steps”- Before you leave Hong Kong: check you can enter China. Use the visa-free checker and fill in the arrival card.
- Get online and set up payment. Have your travel eSIM ready and Alipay or TenPayGo set up, so you’re not fixing apps in the queue.
- Pick your transport. Bus, minibus, coach or taxi from the table below. At night, use NB73 or a 24-hour coach.
- Get off at Huanggang Port and follow the signs into the building.
- Go to a staffed counter with your passport open at the photo page. Show it to each side. E-channels are mainly for permit holders.
- Walk out on the Shenzhen side and choose Line 7, a taxi (B1) or Didi (B3). See the next section.
At the manual counters, Hong Kong and mainland officers sit side by side. You queue once, then show your travel document to the departing side and the arriving side separately.

For foreign passport holders
Section titled “For foreign passport holders”- Use the staffed counters. The automated e-channels are mainly for Hong Kong and mainland permit holders.

Confirm the port is on the current transit port list with the immigration hotline 12367 before you rely on it, since this is a rebuilt port.
- Arrival card: fill it in online before you cross, or at the port. Use the National Immigration Administration’s official form: desktop or mobile (site home: s.nia.gov.cn). You can also use the official NIA 12367 app or mini program below. The service is free. Fake lookalike sites exist, so don’t pay anyone to fill it in. More in the arrival guide.

- Payment: set up Alipay or TenPayGo before you cross, so you can pay for the metro and food straight away. Official sites: Alipay and TenPayGo.
