Can New Zealand citizens visit China visa-free in 2026?

Short answer: Yes. New Zealand passport holders can enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, business, visiting family or transit — the current policy runs until 31 December 2026.

New Zealand citizens are also eligible for 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit when flying on to a third country.

What you need at the border

  • An ordinary passport valid for your whole stay (6 months' validity is recommended).
  • For 240-hour transit: a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region within 10 days.
  • Visa-free entry is for tourism, business, visiting family and transit. Work, study and journalism need a visa.
